ITOKI CORPORATION (President: Kiyotaka Kaneko) will begin to sell the latest model of “SPINA,” a chair for office use that meets global standards, from January 2008.
With SPINA, we adopted the world's first mechanism to combine and interlock the Passive Slide Seat mechanism, which lets the seat slide down backward, and the Active Lumbar Support, which lets the lumbar move forward. By using this mechanism, we made it possible for the SPINA chair to support your lower back and keep the spine in an ideal S-shape even when changing postures.
On the back of the chair, we used elastomer resin, which has a neutral quality between resin and rubber, and which flexibly follows a human being’s movements. With this feature, the back side of the chair touches your back not with its surface, but with its lines. Also, the vertical rib structure, which lessens the feeling of stickiness, was designed to look like a Japanese paper panel door or lattice.
At the Good Design Award 2007 ceremony, these functions and the design of the SPINA chair were highly evaluated and the chair was able to win the prestigious Gold Prize of Good Design Award.
This time, we will offer a lineup of chairs with head support that supports the tendency of managers or those working long hours on VDT operations to recline, as well as chairs with hanger options to save space, guest chairs and fixed armrests that are adaptable to a conference room or meeting space. In this manner, we will aim for further expansion of sales. |
